About the Author
Gordon M. Wardlaw, Ph.D., has taught introductory nutrition courses to students in the Department of Human Nutrition at The Ohio State University, and at other colleges and universities. Dr. Wardlaw is the author of many articles that have appeared in prominent nutrition, biology, physiology, and biochemistry journals and was the 1985 recipient of the American Dietetic Association’s Mary P. Huddleson Award. Dr. Wardlaw is a member of the American Society for Nutritional Sciences and is certified as a Specialist in Human Nutrition by the American Board of Nutrition. Dr. Wardlaw is currently retired from academia.

One of the best text books I have had

I recently used this book for class and found it so easy to use, straight forward and accurate. The version I received also had an accompanying CD which may or may not come with this version from Amazon.
This book covers the basics from the different types of nutrients to in depth details of vitamins, minerals, weight loss, child nutrition, and exercise.
Be sure that your professor wants the 7th edition, otherwise buy the one they are requesting. My professor was working off of the 6th edition and said that the 7th was fine but it is not! They moved some things around so you are working on different page numbers and there is not alcohol section in this book like there is in the 6th edition.
Other than that, I love this book and it is one of the few that I am not reselling. Good for a student, or anyone trying to learn more about nutrition and becoming healthy, active and a proper weight.

Not a College Level Text

This book is specifically an introduction to nutrition concepts text. While I understand it is an introduction, I still felt that concepts were far too simplified. I felt as though I were reading an 8th grade health book, rather than a college level introductory text. I also felt that some of the writing felt opinionated, not necessarily any concepts that I disagree with, but the book just doesn't seem to provide enough sources to prove points beyond opinion.
A bit disappointing, I am hoping to find a better nutrition book. I welcome any suggestions.

Great Text Book

I am using this book in my undergrad college course. It is great. I find it way more helpful than the professor's presentations when it comes to my exams. She is using it more for a reference than teaching from it, but it is most definitely worth the $$ and much cheaper here than buying through the college book store where it was $40 more expensive. Great buy for anyone interested in learning about nutrition.
